This is probably the first instant of contact directly being made by one of the team members of Paperbacks Publishing House. And I’m glad and honored to do so!

It is often said that every new thing must be celebrated, with hope that good things will follow, with belief that struggles will bring in results, with the passion to see dreams come true and with the positivism to make things happen. 2019 has begun, and we are halfway through the month of January. The New Year post was to be up soon – but some technical reasons and waiting for a word – had kept us on hold (the details of which I shall share at the end of this post 🙂

The year that went by was an amazing journey as the Paperbacks team started working on various aspects and details of the publishing house. The year also saw some new names go trending and new titles becoming bestsellers. We heard of Anna Burns and her award winning book Milkman, which surely is in the books-to-read list of many of us. Then there was The Woman in the Window which has attracted a lot of attention due to its diabolically thriller plot. We saw memoir Small Fry of Steve Jobs by his daughter Lisa Brennan-Jobs. There are just a few books that caught our fancy.

The year 2019 looks promising not just as readers but also for the writers. From the various literary festivals being organized in various cities to the widespread use of social media to spread your word, the literary world awaits it new writers and authors. Indeed no one can promise overnight success, but it is hard work and determination that always pays off. So here’s what we’d like to tell you all:

Keep writing. Even if in the beginning it fails to make sense, put it down. You can weed out the garden of your words later. Once you have the story set, and it is looking back at you from the screen or paper, only then can something be done to it – like editing, adding, removing, tweaking it etc. Unless it has been laid out, no one can do a thing about it.

Once your story is out, reach out to the right team, which will provide you all the basic yet vital tools to make your dream of holding your baby in your hand. The skillful hand of the editor, the creative mind of the cover designer and widespread marketing will make your book become the talk of the town. Your dream begins in your mind, while people like us give it shape. But a word of caution – be extremely careful; for there are many places where you might not get what you want and end up getting stuck in the web.

And now to the news we want to share with you all. We, at Paperbacks Publishing House have always been optimistic about our approach with the authors. To add a feather to our cap, we are now open to submissions in the fiction and non-fiction genres. And we will foray from e-book publishing to paperbacks in 2019. Yes, we will from henceforth be stepping into printing of books.
